Marshall Abbott, President & Chief Executive Officer
Marshall Abbott is the Chief Executive Officer of ILS and oversees all corporate management, including new strategic initiatives and business development.  Prior to ILS, Abbott co-founded and was first CEO of Connect-Ed, recently acquired by Blackboard Inc. (NASDAQ: BBBB). Marshall’s area of expertise is identifying niche markets primed for increased efficiency and innovation then executing vision into business reality.  His experience includes the creation of a regional secondary market mortgage origination, processing and distribution platform for both one-off and pooled mortgages to institutional investors.  Marshall holds a B.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD/MBA from Columbia University.

Joel Prather, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
Joel Prather is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of ILS and oversees all regulatory, compliance and corporate legal matters.  Prior to ILS, Prather developed experience in both the public and private sectors of the insurance industry, including the last 10 years working directly in the secondary life market industry as Of Counsel in the nationally recognized Insurance Capital Markets Group of Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell and as General Counsel of Maple Life Financial, a leading life settlement provider.  Joel was also a former senior attorney with the Florida Department of Insurance.  Joel holds B.S. degrees from Florida State University and a JD from the Cumberland School of Law.

Joseph J Ruggiero, Senior Vice President, Trading & Capital Markets
Joseph joined ILS to focus on pricing, asset valuation, capital markets distribution and flow trading. Prior to joining ILS, Joseph was a Vice President in Goldman Sachs’ Longevity Markets Group, where he was responsible for the origination and distribution of longevity/mortality related products. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Joseph was a founder of a boutique investment management firm specializing in structured finance in the life insurance space. Previously, he was at UBS in the Private Client Group where he was responsible for marketing sophisticated financial products and services, including fixed income and equity products, private equity funds, hedge funds, IPO’s and real estate financings.  Joseph holds a B.A. from Loyola University and a MBA from Pace University. He also holds a NY State Life Insurance license.

Tomas Povedano, Chief Operating Officer
Tomas Povedano has been Chief Operating Officer of ILS since inception.  Povedano oversees all of operations, including new strategic initiatives.  Prior to joining ILS, Povedano was Director of Business Development at Genworth Financial, a leading national life insurance company.  Prior to Genworth, he founded Live Well Financial, a reverse mortgage lender, originator, and servicer.  From 1993 to 2004, Tom was a Business Manager at Capital One Financial where he was responsible for the development launch of both domestic and international businesses.  Tom holds a B.A. degree from James Madison University and a MBA from University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business.
