ILS was founded in 2007 by Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS), National Financial Partners (NYSE: NFP) and Genworth Financial (NYSE: GNW) to create a broad-scale life settlement exchange and securitization platform for institutional market makers.  In Q4 2009 ILS was restructured and NFP became the sole shareholder.  Today, ILS remains an independent life settlement provider licensed by the State Departments of Insurance and can transact in more than 40 states, Districts and Commonwealths nationwide.  ILS is based in New York, NY.
